Town of Coats Water System Development Fees
The Town of Coats is currently considering the establishment of water system development fees to help address the impact of new growth and development on the Town’s existing water system.
The Town authorized Willdan Financial Services to conduct a System Development Fee Study to evaluate the Town’s water infrastructure and calculate the maximum fees permitted under North Carolina law. These fees are associated with new development and are intended to help fund or recover costs for water system infrastructure needed to serve that growth.
As part of the required process, the Town is providing a 45-day public comment period and will hold a public hearing on November 12, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. during the Regular Council Meeting at Town Hall.
Written public comments must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
