The Coats Police Department provides a free property security check for residents who will be away from their homes for an extended period, not to exceed 30 days.
This public service provides residents with additional peace of mind while they are away and helps officers identify potential problems involving the property.
After a Property Check Request has been submitted, Coats Police officers will periodically check the residence during the homeowner's absence as calls for service and officer availability permit.
If an officer discovers evidence of a break-in, property damage, or another problem requiring attention, the department will attempt to contact the homeowner and/or designated emergency contact and take appropriate police action.
